I have a F3800 and an F2000, three 400w solar panels, other accessories, and at this point, if Anker Solix doesn't do the right thing here, I won't be buying anything else from them and am presently thinking about calling the Federal Trade commission.
The problem with Anker Solix is the only customer service you can get is email, there is no phone number, you can not talk to a person outside tech support and they say they can't help with problems outside of tech support. Anker Solix sent me a product I don't want, didn't want, and wasn't part of the package I bought. Seems they ran out of the item in the package I bought and replaced that item with an item of their choosing that I have no use for, a C800 solar generator, and I'm having a bitch of a time getting this fixed. Originally, the cost of that item in the package was noted at $699 (I photo shot it when they were only willing to give me back $399. After weeks of emails, cause you have to wait 24 hours for a response, they're in China, we're down to either order off their website and pay $1,000 regular cost for the upgrade to the cooler and they'll send me a refund when they receive the C800 I returned or pay pal the $200 difference in upgrade, which I originally suggested. Problem is I don't have pay pal and don't want it, pay pal screwed me over once. I can't and won't take the chance that if Anker Solix is either going to misrepresent their sales packages, or if they don't stand behind them, and they can pick and choose alternate items, especially at these prices, do you really want the headaches I've gone thru here, and most importantly if this is their idea of customer service. Seriously disappointed, would have been a good repeat customer. Its now been over two weeks and I'm almost no further than I was since the beginning of this fiasco.
On paper it seemed great but it had all of these gotchas that were not documented which meant I was not able to use it for the intended purpose:
-It is advertised as 6kW but that is false. It can only do that when off the grid. Meaning if it is plugged into AC and working as a UPS it can only supply half of that. So you only have 20A at 120V you can use 24/7 through this unit.
-When not charging it cannot pass through or supply 6kW even for a short duration.
-This unit trips 'n GFCI outlet, you have to have an unprotected outlet it seems (which I do not have near where I wanted this).
-It is very very iffy with which solar panels it would work, and there is no documentation on it, it lists it's capabilities as 11-15V and 15V plus at different amperages. Whatever they expect, this unit does not charge from the same configuration panels I had already up that worked just fine with two different brands. I did not enjoy having to reconfigure the panels.
Also when put side-by side with same number of panels as a competitor it was charging with fewer watts...
Final deathnail... DO NOT USE THIS IN FRONT OF AN AV RECEIVER. Whatever anker puts out as AC 120V makes every one of 3 different brand AV receivers I used cause a loud hum on the powersupply of the receiver. I am guessing something to do with what they produce as a sine waive at 60Hz is not really that.
I do honestly regret this purchase, but since it was so heavy I cannot bear thinking about returning it. It will by my last anker home UPS battery.
I have been wanting an All House Emergency Power Backup system for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger on an Anker Solix, the F3800 to be exact. Why? #1 it LOOKS awesome. I like and prefer the tall standing design on wheels and think it looks so COOL! #2 it has not only 120v but 240v as well so I can connect it for use as a WHOLE HOME backup solution as I build up the system. I am on WELL water so something that can keep us in water during an emergency is a GOOD thing. #3 price is really pretty good per kWH. I can add more batteries as I build the system and hope to one day have a full solution. I will be testing this all soon but for now I use it as an UPS in my home office and if the power goes out, I can connect my fridge directly to it and my Internet router as well to keep my coms online. Thanks Anker!
