I still bring an ice chest for drinks, but this cooler is great for food. No more soggy wet packages! Cools quickly and is very quiet. Went to Grand Canyon for 5-days with 80F weather, battery would last about day and a half so would just charge one in Jeep when driving around. So a second battery is pretty much a must have for convenience. Built very well. The wheels, folding table, bottle opener, and light are all a nice touch. As long as it lasts, well worth the purchase.
Dropped to -4 in about 20 minutes on just the battery. Well worth it. Would buy again.
We purchased this just before heading on a 4 day camping trip. We have a 120 volt outlet in our minivan which kept recharging the batteries for the refrigerator. Each night, we camped in primitive spots and it was so fun to check on the internal temps with the handy app to see how much battery we had left. I'm sure it would have made it the 42 hours as we still had 85% battery after leaving it unplugged all night (9 or 10 hours).
This is big for cooler, but that is the tradeoff for choosing an actual compressor refrigerator rather than an ice chest. Most of the bulk. is the mechanics too, but the capacity is just what I need. I will mainly use this as a camper cooler, but the real purpose for me is as a back up refrigerator for medication. Having its own batter makes it perfect. NB it isn’t rated for pharmaceutical s, this is private use and regular consumer refrigeration is the norm.
They advertise “up to 42 hours” on a single charge. I got 60, albeit not in the most stressful conditions. Still, with two batteries (i bought an extra, it comes with one) I feel confident about getting two to three days of cooling, probably longer. That was my criteria for emergency planning, for that it exceeds expectations. Temperature stability was about what you would expect for a consumer refrigerator this size.
Oh, I got a kick out of the manual that labelled the bottle opener on the side as a “screwdriver”. It would be pretty clumsy for that purpose. Technical writer or translator must not be familiar with American coolers. But the manual was mostly clear, and operating the cooler is mostly intuitive. The one exception is turning off the indicator LEDs on the batteries. Had to experiment either that, and it doesn’t always work.
It will be nice to have camping as well!
So far so good nice cool, heavy duty.
